From My Heart

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6 -NIV

With House coming to an end, what lessons about life should viewers take away from it? The show’s stars tell us…

I must admit I’m a big fan of the show House. I know as a Christian we all must be careful what we view. I know sometimes House can be a bit crass. But what I do like about him is his honesty and drive to find the answer. The show is coming to an end this season. A few minutes ago I watched a video where some of the main characters of the show were asked “What lesson to you hope your viewers will take away from the show?” The main theme; Truth is Truth- Truth has no sides.

They may have no idea how TRUE that is. That is the basis of Jesus’ teaching. That is how Jesus lived. Jesus was/is Truth.

The people being interviewed went on to say that truth is often something you don’t want to hear, it can be awkward and unpalatable. Truth as Jesus presented it could be just that; His teachings are challenging and take us out of our comfort zone.

One person in the interview stated that most people want to change, to be challenged. That people want to believe there is hope. Another piped in and said yes but often people don’t change. They both are correct. People are searching for the truth, looking for hope in the hopeless. But when that truth challenges them and takes them out of their comfort zone far too often they dig in their heals and refuse to move off the mark.

Much like the story lines of House Jesus’ truth can divide friends, challenge us to think, and to make decisions for the betterment others and ourselves. But Jesus said in John 8: 31-32“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Thank you to the cast of House for unknowingly inspriring me to ponder on the Truth in Jesus Christ.
