Changing of the Seasons

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-14

The changing of the seasons; there is something special about it. There is a stir in the air and in me as if anticipating something good to come. It also makes me reflect on how I’ve spent my time during the last season. Have I used my days wisely?

This summer has been especially busy. I have been very intentional to strive to be about God’s work and not operating on my own ideas, impulses or desires. At times when I’ve done a status check I’ve found that I had gotten off track. God gently reminds me that He has a greater plan that I don’t clearly see. I am to trust Him for the next step.

It has been an especially challenging summer as well. There have been burdens, hurts, and what seemed to be road blocks. However, God has been faithful to make the burden lighter, heal the hurts and remove the road blocks to fulfill His purpose.

As the fall of the year is upon us God is revealing more of His plan. No matter what enticing thing the world has to offer it only pales in comparison to what God has down the road. As those plans unfold I will be sure to give Him the glory. I am but his servant and find great satisfaction in my role. I don’t want to miss any part of what He has for me! I am so thankful that we serve a God who loves us and wants to be a part of every detail of our lives.
